Desmond Carson, M.D.
Chair
Director Carson, a 35-year resident of Richmond, is an E.R. Physician at Doctors Medical Center San Pablo and Kaiser, and is the Medical Director of the City Help Mobile in Berkeley. He is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley and the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is an advocate of healthcare for all.

Jim Beaver
Vice Chair
Director Beaver has lived in West County for 24 years. He is married with one son. Jim was a newspaper reporter and columnist, mostly with the West County Times, from 1982 to 1989. In 1989 he joined Brookside Hospital as Director of Public Affairs. After Brookside went into partnership with Tenet HealthSystems in 1997, Jim became Executive Director of the West Contra Costa Healthcare District. He also worked with the Brookside Foundation. Jim joined the District Board of Directors in December 2007.

Beverly Wallace
Treasurer
Director Wallace is a native of West County and a retired 40-year employee of Brookside Hospital, with firsthand knowledge of the many changes in the healthcare field. She is a Senior Advocate who actively participates in other organizations and strives to improve community health and wellness. She is a strong supporter of accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for all.

Deborah Campbell, R.N.
Secretary
Director Campbell is a 32-year registered nurse specializing in ER, trauma, and critical care. She is 15-year resident of Hercules and was elected to the Board in 2000. She is a community activist and patient advocate promoting accountability, equal access to healthcare and single universal healthcare. She is a member of the CNA leadership team and is presently working with the County EMS to improve and develop 1st response (ALS) to all 911 calls.

Nancy Casazza, R.N.
Assistant Secretary
Director Casazza, a 17-year resident of Contra Costa County, is a registered nurse specializing in ER & ICU. A healthcare activist, Director Casazza was elected to the Board in 2000 and strives for equitable, accessible healthcare for everyone. While on the Board, she has promoted community outreach, seismic safety of the hospital, and disaster preparedness.
